Sweating away again in Phuket for the 2023 ADT season opener

The Asian Development Tour got going once again in Phuket this week at Laguna Golf and yes you guessed it, back on the Phad Thai noodles for a lot less than you can get in Norwich! It is such a great fresh local dish and miles better than anything you have tried in the UK. I have written about food before in Thailand and it is one of the best things about traveling there and a highlight in the golfing day. Really hot sun and high humidity takes its toll on the body and fuelling up with good food is so important. The golf course is a good one. It’s tough in parts but easier in others if you can hit it in the right spots. This sounds cliché but ultimately if you have control of your ball to get through the harder holes you can get a good score going.

The tournament was unfortunately cut short for me and the rest of the players because of a big weather delay and then a shortage of daylight. It was a shame as I was starting to play better on the last day after having battled to make the round 2 cut. I made four birdies in my first 9 holes with only a couple of dropped shots on very difficult holes, feeling good about the final 9 holes. However, after sitting in the clubhouse for three hours, out of the storm, the tournament director decided to call it off and the leaderboard after round three would be final. Lucky for some and not so for others.

Ultimately, I needed to play better in the other rounds and taking responsibility for that and improving my game is what needs to happen before the next tournament. Nonetheless, it was a pretty fun week with some added points on the board for the long season ahead.
